Hi, I’m Derek, and I’m here to support you in processing grief, loss, trauma and life transitions. My clients often describe me as down-to-earth, non-judgmental, easy to talk to, and great at helping them work through challenges and find solutions. I work collaboratively with individuals to create personalised plans for healing and coping with difficult experiences. Many of the clients I support have experienced trauma, complex trauma, PTSD, loss or impending loss. Loss and grief often start with a diagnosis long before the person or animal leaves this earth. I’m really looking forward to the opportunity to work with you!
I draw from a variety of approaches, including Narrative Therapy Person-Centered Therapy, Trauma-Informed Therapy, CBT, and DBT. However, my primary focus is always on your unique needs, goals, and values. I currently hold a variety of qualifications including Psychotherapy and Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) practitioner certificates.
My career has been diverse, including roles in the military, child protection, and prison systems, and most recently, I’ve been focused on further studies particularly in the areas of grief and loss of pets. When I’m not working, I enjoy learning, spending time with my dogs, and growing food—activities that help me stay grounded.
