While the challenges of modern life affect everyone in different ways, most life challenges are universal: balancing work and home life, changing jobs, starting a new life with a partner, parenting, dealing with loss, maintaining satisfactory and harmonious relationships with colleagues, friends, family... the list goes on. The aim of counselling sessions is to provide a safe space where clients experiencing difficulties in any aspect of their life can unburden themselves, discuss and explore issues of concern, and gain the skills to live a better, happier life, feeling better about themselves and the world around them.
Silvia's interest in mental health stems from a lived experience of post-natal depression, and a desire to help others to deal with life's challenges, loss, anxiety, and depression. She applies various modalities to suit a client's needs, with a strong focus on CBT (cognitive behaviour) and ACT therapies, as well as motivational interviewing techniques.
Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Silvia is a fluent Spanish speaker. She has worked as an interpreter and is a NAATI qualified translator, providing counselling in Spanish to clients from Spain and South American backgrounds. Her experience as a migrant provides an added layer of understanding to anyone born overseas, dealing with a new culture.
