About
I work in partnership with people experiencing emotional pain. My approach is person-centred and humanistic. My manner is warm and compassionate. I believe the first goal of therapy is to establish safety and connection. I draw upon a range of modalities including, Emotion Focused Therapy, Narrative, Collaborative Couples Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I have provided therapy to individuals experiencing trauma, chronic illness, grief and loss, burnout, stress and fatigue, overwhelm, relationship issues, parenting concerns, anxiety, depression, eating disorders and addiction.
I offer both couple and individual counselling. I am a trauma informed therapist and use an attachment science lens. Over my career I have had the privilege of assisting victim/survivors of sexual assault and family violence. I believe that working through trauma needs to occur in the context of a safe and meaningful therapeutic relationship.
I appreciate that reaching out for counselling is not always an easy thing to do. It takes courage and sometimes persistence to find the right person. I welcome clients and couples to have an initial session and see if I am the right fit for them. Feeling safe, accepted and connected is very important if therapy is to be successful.
