Before I worked as a clinical psychologist, I was a professional musician. This line of work taught me a lot. I found that the best music is made when one listens carefully, and responds to what is happening in the moment, rather than simply reciting familiar material. I bring the same philosophy to my work as a psychologist. It is incredibly important to first listen, and deeply understand the goals of the individual, which then guide the direction of therapy.
I enjoy working with adults who are wanting to improve their life in a meaningful way, whether that means overcoming a repeating pattern in relationships, dealing with anger, stopping a particular behaviour, confronting fears and anxieties, or coping with grief. I use evidence-based strategies including cognitive-behavioural and psychodynamic therapies.
My ultimate goal is for you to feel listened to and understood, and I make a point of being open to feedback to help guide the therapy. Together, we'll monitor your progress over time, reflect on what is and is not working, and make the changes necessary to achieve the best result. I look forward to speaking with you!
