Hi! I'm a clinical psychologist working with individuals and couples. With individuals, I use CBT, relational therapy, LGBTQIA+ affirmative therapy, exposure therapy, mindfulness-based approaches, and ethical consultation among others. I work with adults, children and adolescents. I'm a Certified Gottman Therapist and in couples therapy, I mix Gottman therapy and systemic approaches. I also offer discernment counselling to married couples with divorce ambivalence.

I am a well-grounded and enthusiastic psychologist from Barcelona. Over the years I have worked and undertaken training in a wide range of fast-changing settings and healthcare organisations including the EAPS Mutuam Girona and Doctor Josep Trueta University Hospital, providing up-to-date evidence-based interventions to a broad population of adult patients with acute physical and mental health issues. Furthermore, I hold extensive experience in the private sector working with children and adolescents with autism, neurodevelopmental disorders or intellectual disabilities in their homes or in my practice.

Family Psychology Practice is a specialist therapeutic service for children, adolescents and adults. Our practice is a safe place for individuals and families to explore complex issues. Our work is always evidence based and using best practice approaches. We believe that small changes, new ideas or a change of perspective can sometimes be the difference that people need. Our Psychologists and Psychotherapists are fully registered mental health providers. Our Psychologists are Medicare providers. In consultation with a GP, treatment can be provided under Better Access to Mental Health Programme, Psychological Access Plus, Workcover.

Amara is a Clinical Psychologist with a Master in Clinical Psychology and a Master in Educational and Developmental Psychology. She has specialised in both adult and child psychology and has working in various roles in the public and private sector of health. She has extensive experience working with mood disorders (depression), anxiety disorders (including selective mutism, OCD, and hoarding), grief and bereavement, trauma, parenting and behavioural issues, and family relationships. Amara has a collaborative approach with clients by helping to identify factors that may be maintaining issues and setting realistic achievable goals.
