Hi, I’m Charmain, a registered art therapist working with communities in the Northern Rivers. I specialise in trauma recovery using a holistic, human-centred approach.
Art therapy gently explores emotions that may be difficult to express in words. Trauma can shape self-perception, relationships, and daily life. While some coping mechanisms protect us, some may not always support long-term well-being.
My trauma-informed approach prioritises safety, pacing, and meaningful goals towards recovery.
No artistic skills or talent is needed.
I take a nervous system-led approach, incorporating:
mindfulness & attunement / somatic and grounding techniques / visual arts, experiential, and nature-based activities / transpersonal & psychodynamic processes.
The science behind art therapy:
Engaging in creative expression is a whole-body experience that helps the brain rewire and heal. Research shows it promotes resilience, forming new neural pathways for emotional and physical well-being.
If you are seeking gentle growth-orientated therapy, I am here to support you.
