Meeting a new client is a great experience as we get to know each other and how we can work together. I pride myself on taking a completely individualise approach to counselling which is constantly evolving with each session depending on what clients are learning about themselves. My life experience has assisted me in efforts to find themes and ask questions that help individuals deepen their self insight. Clients learn how to ask themselves critical questions along the way that help define their paths. Clients decide whether they want to process the past, share awareness for now or fast forward to what's possible.
Much of my experience has come from the disability/neurodiversity field working with parents and individuals. This has given me experience in offering support to those who experience the world in uniquely personal ways. I have been able to hone my listening skills to understand the complexity of life and to be able to find strategies that are just right.
People find it easy to share about their lives with me because I am keen to understand their experience and perspectives. Value systems and beliefs are essential to understand and allow for. I bring genuine interest and transparency to each session.
