Maybe you feel like you don't fit in - that others seem to have 'it' and you don't. Maybe you think you don't do the 'right' things, the things you think you should be doing. Perhaps you are dogged by sadness, anxiety, confusion or fear and don't understand why this is so. It could be that you are struggling to succeed in a relationship , a job, or being socially worthy and you are frustrated at what you see as your limitations. Maybe you had a one-off traumatic experience that you feel you will never get over, or childhood and adolescent 'failures' that you feel defined by. But you also don't want to give up and are searching ...

I welcome the opportunity to meet you and form a therapeutic relationship .
During my initial years as a Psychologist, I have dedicated most of my time to understanding suicidality and the complexities behind it: complex family dynamics, traumatic upbringings, psychosocial developments, as well as personality structures. It is my goal to provide my clients with a holistic point of view, an understating of their psychological needs, and how previous events they had no control over shaped the person they have become. I focus not only on the current manifestation of symptoms but the effect of them from within.

If you're tired of people pleasing, of trying to live up to expectations that don't work for you, of pretending things are okay when they're not, and of arguing with each other, and you want to find a way to have a relationship that works for you, get in touch.
Being listened to as you talk with someone you can trust helps you remember that you are not alone. It feels good to share, and talking about things can open up the door for healing. When we talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary. When we try to keep things stored in our head, especially strong feelings, it gets overwhelming, which fuels our anxiety. Talking frees us from that. Together, our conversations will uncover the hidden meaning behind what's happening, and help you to find your way, as you make sense of the challenges you have found yourself facing.

Fortunately we also heal within relationship .
Are you alone in your pain? Don't feel good on the inside? Can't trust? Not sure who to talk to about all the hurt you're holding onto? Maybe all you really want is to feel close to someone. Someone who will be gentle with you and work slowly with you. Someone who wants to understand you just the way you are. No-one wants to feel separate. We all crave close human connection. To belong. To know we matter.

Are you a woman who's got what you always wanted but find that it doesn't make you happy? Are you in a relationship but struggling to feel connected now that the honeymoon period is over? My clients often feel this way. Both my individual and couple clients often compare themselves to others and struggle with perfectionism. They tend to feel frustrated they haven't achieved more and worry that their lives or their relationships will never be all they’d hoped for. They can also be quite self-critical or have a tendency to people pleasing. Some also experience anxiety or depression on a regular basis. Does that sound familiar?

I primarily work with individuals and couples and am very experienced at working with neurodivergent people, especially Autistics and ADHDers, including couples that are a NT/ND relationship .
Do you need a down-to-earth person who just gets you? You might want help with anxiety, depression, neurodiversity, trauma, or relationships. Or you are looking for a translator to help you communicate across different neurotypes (NT/ND)? Do you want to break old habits, create new patterns, talk through things that you are still holding on to. Maybe you have been (newly) diagnosed with Autism or ADHD and you want to process your diagnosis in a neurodiversity affirming way? (Whilst I have a special interest in neurodiversity and trauma, I see a range of clients for a range of issues.)

Couples Counselling

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
