My name is Anita and I work with my Therapy Dogs Bonnie and Noah. I have two areas of my psychology work that I am passionate about making available to you. The first being Animal Assisted Therapy, and the second Art in Therapy. Having the dogs in my studio provides you with an emotionally safe and nurturing space to explore the distress you are feeling, without getting lost in it. The dogs are always there as a welcome sensory connection to the present moment. I also use art (basket weaving /picture cards, paint and other) to help you explore parts of your story and emotional experience that you don't have the right words for.
As a psychologist I have studied and maintained professional registration requirements in order to bring you my best practice. I work from a Narrative Framework, which enables you to be empowered to make choices and grow further in your own strengths through the therapeutic process. Every session is adapted to your goals and the outcomes you wish to achieve.
It can be very difficult to reach out for support. We have been taught to "toughen up" and that being independant shows strength. But did you know that these beliefs around strength are myths? We now know that the human body is hard wired to work as a team, and good emotional functioning and social support is vital to wellbeing!
