You're tired of feeling this way. It seems like life has been so much easier for everyone else. Things might get better for awhile but you always end up getting stuck again. Maybe the skills and tools you've tried haven't fixed things, or your last therapist didn't seem to know how to help you.

Who really knows anything about what we're doing here? In the psychology practice I offer knowing isn't as prized as wondering and exploring. I am a clinical psychologist and have worked for the past decade exploring meaning in life, the balance between change and acceptance, the unconscious, and patterns leading us to want to destroy or hurt ourselves and each other. I see many people who experience loneliness, trauma, depression, relationship difficulties, grief, pain, addiction, low self-confidence and feel a lack of direction/purpose. I work with people who are curious about their own experience and any discontent they have.

I am a compassionate, caring psychologist. I enjoy meeting new clients and lending a hand to their healing. There is no bad reason to come to therapy, no matter how big or small challenges feel. I work with teenagers and adults of all ages. I use feedback driven approaches to ensure we share an understanding of what has happened and what we might do next. I like to meet people with both similar and different life experiences to my own to learn about the human mind together. This can mean assessing and diagnosing mental illness to provide evidence based treatment but also unpacking what matters most to you in life.

If you are already checking this, it means that a part of you is ready to be transformed, I´m here to assist you in that process. My most important objective is to provide you with a safe and professional space to go to the roots of your symptoms, not only the surface. In that way, changes being made are most likely to remain.

Anger Management Counsellors

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
