Hello, I'm Amy (they/them). I'm a registered Psychologist, and for the past 14 years have been counselling in community organisations with teens and adults. At the heart of my practice is providing trauma informed and affirming care to LGBTIQA+ people, their families and caregivers. My work is underpinned by ethics of social justice and advocacy, and takes into account how our lives are influenced by our context and experiences. I utilise ACT, DBT, CBT, Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness and Somatic Approaches amongst others to provide an integrative and individualised approach.
Some areas I often work around are addressing mood changes, life transitions, building confidence and self-compassion, health, dis/ability, mental health, diverse bodies, body image concerns, trauma and experiences of abuse and violence, homelessness, navigating faith and cultural identity, and questioning and affirming sexuality or gender.
It can be a big step to start working with someone in therapy. I aim to honour this by actively working to provide a space that is safe enough to explore the challenges impacting your life and patterns that are no longer serving you. I hope to shine a light on your values, resources, and strengths and support you to draw on these towards meaningful change.
