If a psychoanalyst is in a position to listen, then the patient - the one said to be 'in analysis', is certainly in a position to speak. Nevertheless, there is very little that is certain about being in a position to speak, especially speaking under the directive of the fundamental rule: Say whatever comes to mind, censor nothing, no matter how insignificant, Idiotic, perverse, or crazy you think it is. Proceeding in this manner for a while would it be at all surprising if we came to learn something?
Formally I am a counsellor and psychotherapist, working both in private practice and the public mental health and addiction sectors. Privately I work with individuals of all ages, as well as couples and families experiencing a range other, issues.
A psychoanalysis will look at the uncertainties which unsettle one's sense of self, one's place in the world and family, as well as one's sexuality, gender, and cultural identity - all ultimately through the lens of an experience.

The Freudian School of Melbourne was founded as a School of Lacanian Psychoanalysis in 1977. The School takes its direction from the writings of Sigmund Freud and Jacques Lacan. Its task is the investigation and transmission of psychoanalysis and the formation of Lacanian psychoanalysts.
