Hi, my name is Jo, owner of Affiniti Counselling. Gold Coast based, I provide face to face and online counselling services specialising in supporting young people and adults with neurodiversity/special needs and parents of young people with neurodiversity/special needs. I also provide generalist counselling services for parenting support, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, emotion regulation and grief / loss. With a background as a special education teacher and a qualified counsellor, registered with the ACA my goal is to provide timely, individualised support that is empathetic, non-judgemental and solution focused.
Depending on individual needs, I use elements from Cognitive Behavioural, Solution Focused, Acceptance and Commitment, Expressive and Mindfulness therapies to help clients understand themselves better and use their inner resources to develop skills and strategies to make positive changes towards a more rewarding life.
I loved the experience of working from a strengths-based and solution- focused perspective as a teacher for neurodivergent children (and children with a variety of other special needs) and supporting their parents. I am passionate about creating a safe space and being present for my clients ... I look forward to connecting with you!
