Is the way you’ve always coped no longer sustainable? If you’re a neurodivergent adult (Autism, ADHD, AuDHD) feeling adrift, exhausted, or stuck in a cycle of self-criticism, there is a different way to live. Whether you are navigating burnout, new diagnosis, or a life transition, I provide a neuro-affirming space to pause, process, and trade "shoulds" for self-compassion. Let’s move beyond masking and surviving, and start building a life that feels authentic to you. I am an ACA registered counsellor with lived experience of neurodivergence, offering in-person sessions in Canberra's Inner North or by tele-health Australia-wide.

People often feel confused, unsure or overwhelmed. Anxiety, distress, emotional pain and sadness can impede one's ability to engage fully in life. Safety, warmth and respect for individual differences are key to my approach. With a foundation of trauma informed practice, I use strengths based, person centred counselling, deep listening, art therapy, goal setting and mindfulness meditation. I have counselled people from all walks of life, on all life's challenges.

I work primarily with folks who’re struggling in their relationships. Mostly, I work with romantic partners, but also with mothers & daughters, business partners, friends and individuals. My clients typically have difficulties in communicating effectively with others, especially during conflict when they’re feeling all the feelings. Clients also often approach me because they’ve been betrayed in relationship. Sometimes, there’s been an affair, an experience of sexual assault, or an unexpected separation...

Are you alone in your pain? Don't feel good on the inside? Can't trust? Not sure who to talk to about all the hurt you're holding onto? Maybe all you really want is to feel close to someone. Someone who will be gentle with you and work slowly with you. Someone who wants to understand you just the way you are. No-one wants to feel separate. We all crave close human connection. To belong. To know we matter.

I’m a registered, LGBTQ+ affirming, and culturally sensitive psychologist who specialises in supporting clients across a wide spectrum of anxiety, depression, trauma, and mood-related difficulties. Many copes by turning their feelings inward, which can lead to longer-term emotional pain. There are often complex reasons we feel the way we do, and these can be difficult to articulate. These experiences may stem from past trauma, growing up challenges, or the cumulative impact of unprocessed emotions. Taking the first step can be difficult. There are effective ways to build resilience, and I’m here to support you through that process.

My name is Natalie, I am a neurodivergent counsellor trained in experiential approaches including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Coherence Therapy, and EMDR. These approaches engage the brain’s memory reconsolidation (or memory updating) process, transforming traumatic memories and unhelpful beliefs to alleviate distress including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, burnout, and self-sabotage. Updating memories in experiential therapy can shift old reaction patterns, creating “aha!” moments of new insight and clarity. People often (re)discover a calm, confident, curious self, a place from which meaningful change begins.

Many of the men and couples I work with have spent years trying to hold everything together. They may be living with anxiety, burnout, loneliness, relationship difficulties, or questions about identity and belonging. Some are navigating coming out later in life, open relationships, intimacy concerns, or changing family dynamics. Others simply want a place where they do not have to explain what it means to be a gay or queer man. Together we explore what is keeping them stuck, reduce the impact of shame and self-criticism, and build greater confidence, connection and emotional wellbeing.

Self Esteem Therapists
When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?
When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?
Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?
Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?
Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
