If you're a man and you realize that your anger is affecting your family life and you want to work through it, feel free to reach out.
I work with individual parts or aspects of the 'Self,' recognizing that we are a composition of many sub-personalities. To survive in this world, we learn to rely on certain parts of ourselves while leaving others dormant. Very often, we do not truly know who we are. I also specialize in couples' relationships and psychosexual issues.

Presentations I commonly work with: perinatal mental health (pregnancy, birth & postpartum), trauma, depression, anxiety, anger management, addictions, attachment/relationship difficulties and low self esteem.
We can all become stuck in patterns that no longer serve us. Patterns of thoughts, emotions and behaviours that keep us stuck and get in the way of living a satisfying life. Trauma or difficult experiences can have a lasting impact on us, influencing the way we see ourselves, people and the world around us. I am collaborative in my approach and endeavour to meet you with kindness, warmth, and a non-judgemental approach.

Yes, I can list the many challenges that I help people with, anxiety, stress, depression, anger, grief, truama, but my greatest desire is to make therapy achievable and comfortable for everyone, to be right there with you, listen to you, support you, make you feel safe.
I have a lifetime of experience which shapes me as a counsellor, along with the academic knowledge. This experience, and the belief that trauma underpins many conditions, has led me to become qualified in mindfulness/meditation therapy as well as EMIT/EMDR, one of the most highly acknowledged and successful trauma therapies.

My ideal client is someone who feels stuck despite their capabilities. They might be a gifted individual struggling with perfectionism and self-doubt, a veteran navigating civilian life transitions, or someone managing anxiety that's preventing them from living authentically. They're ready to do the work but need guidance understanding their patterns. They want to develop psychological flexibility, practice self-compassion, and align their actions with their values. They're seeking not just symptom relief, but genuine life satisfaction and the tools to handle future challenges independently.

Maybe you feel like you don't fit in - that others seem to have 'it' and you don't. Maybe you think you don't do the 'right' things, the things you think you should be doing. Perhaps you are dogged by sadness, anxiety, confusion or fear and don't understand why this is so. It could be that you are struggling to succeed in a relationship, a job, or being socially worthy and you are frustrated at what you see as your limitations. Maybe you had a one-off traumatic experience that you feel you will never get over, or childhood and adolescent 'failures' that you feel defined by. But you also don't want to give up and are searching ...

Anger Management Counsellors

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
