My ideal client is someone who feels stuck despite their capabilities. They might be a gifted individual struggling with perfectionism and self-doubt, a veteran navigating civilian life transitions, an athlete facing performance anxiety or mental blocks, or someone managing anxiety that's preventing them from living authentically. They're ready to do the work but need guidance understanding their patterns. They want to develop psychological flexibility, practice self-compassion, and align their actions with their values. They're seeking not just symptom relief, but genuine life satisfaction and the tools to handle future challenges

I’m a registered, LGBTQ+ affirming, and culturally sensitive psychologist who specialises in supporting clients across a wide spectrum of anxiety, depression, trauma, and mood-related difficulties. Many copes by turning their feelings inward, which can lead to longer-term emotional pain. There are often complex reasons we feel the way we do, and these can be difficult to articulate. These experiences may stem from past trauma, growing up challenges, or the cumulative impact of unprocessed emotions. Taking the first step can be difficult. There are effective ways to build resilience, and I’m here to support you through that process.

I understand people in relationship — with themselves, with others, and within the wider contexts of their lives. This doesn't mean every difficulty is about a relationship. You may be struggling with a relationship or family difficulty, recurring conflict, or emotional distance. Or you may be experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, stress, workplace difficulties, or a significant life transition. Whatever brings you to counselling, exploring it in relational context can reveal connections and possibilities for change that may otherwise be difficult to see. Some people come alone. Others come as couples or families.

I’m open, inclusive and non-judgemental, with 20 years of experience working with teenagers and their families.
My speciality is working with neurodivergent clients, as well as teenagers and families. I’m passionate about taking a person-centred approach to therapy and understanding your story from your perspective. As a late-diagnosed woman with ADHD myself, I understand some of the experiences that can come with not fully understanding yourself until later in life.

Maybe you had a one-off traumatic experience that you feel you will never get over, or childhood and adolescent 'failures' that you feel defined by.
If that's you, I can help. I am naturally sensitive, empathic and welcoming. I am also non-judgmental and genuinely optimistic. In addition, my principal frame of therapeutic reference is Internal Family Systems therapy which sees people as full of possibility for growth and change whatever past difficulties have come.

Many of the adults I work with have spent years feeling misunderstood or overwhelmed. They might be navigating ADHD, autism spectrum traits or longstanding trauma, often without clear formulation or integrated support. Some have received a late diagnosis or recognise high masking patterns. Others struggle with emotional regulation, relationship strain or persistent distress that has not shifted with short-term approaches. They want clarity, stability and a deeper understanding of themselves.

Sometimes, thinking things through on our own stops being enough, and instead creates more fear, overwhelm and confusion. A supportive, structured space to explore can help you regain clarity and develop a sense of direction grounded in your unique and personal circumstances.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.
How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.
How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.
How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
