My role is to listen, to understand and to identify what it is that you seek help with. Our work will be about building an understanding of what is going on internally and externally for you, in particular, the things about yourself that you may not be aware of. As we gain this understanding of you, it becomes easier for you and I to make sense of what is happening within you, why you act and feel a particular way in certain situations and relationships. By understanding and acting on these things, you will be able to bring about change in your life.

Maybe you're carrying anxiety, grief, depression, chronic pain, relationship challenges, or the impact of past trauma. If so, this might be the right place to begin. At the core of my practice is the belief in people’s ability to change, to grow and find greater satisfaction. At times we all need help to see the obstacles in our way. I work with relationship challenges, anxiety, trauma, a lack of meaning or purpose, depression, self esteem and life changes – with both individuals and couples. My approach to psychotherapy and counselling is humanistic, drawing particularly on existential, psychodynamic and somatic frameworks. At the heart of my work is the relationship between therapist and client, and together we find the best way forward.

Even in our deepest suffering, there is meaning to be found. When we look within, towards those aspects of ourselves and our experiences that we find most difficult, we begin to know ourselves more deeply, we broaden our capacities to bear emotional pain, and from there we are able create meaningful changes in our lives.

“I am so looking forward to getting to know you as a unique individual, and working together to create the life you wish for. I believe that creating sustainable change is only possible when working with people holistically. I have always cringed at traditional, clinical styles of therapy, so instead I am committed to treating you as a real person and working together to help you live your best life. I love it when people take a proactive approach to their mental health. There isn’t a day that goes by where I don’t appreciate how much of a privilege it is to get to know my clients and work together with them in a meaningful way"

Hi there, I'm Kate (she/her) and I provide unconventional counselling for unconventional teens and young adults. Helping you to claim space in society as your authentic self, without compromising who you are. I specialise in youth mental health, LGBTQI+ specific counselling; and childhood trauma. Counselling with me can look like a lot of different things. It can involve learning new coping strategies; working through trauma; helping you to set boundaries; exploring identity and befriending parts of yourself that have been unsupported; finding the path that's right for you in a world of social norms and expectations.
