The epidemic of Loneliness - Pandemic?

This is a "grand slam" home run article regarding the pandemic of loneliness. Forty years ago, in a Chicago Transit Authority song, "Loneliness isn't just a word, so I've been told...", is a very good indication of how one feels in the midst of the 25,000 people Janis Joplin referred to. Loneliness is not depression, however, depression can be prompted by loneliness and lack of security in self. Some spend their whole life alone, without companionship, and they are just fine, so the consideration is what is the difference between loneliness and solitude? Socialization can help, but,it does not cure loneliness.
