Mother Nature Parenting Advice

There is no better expert in parenting than Mother Nature-she has raised all sorts of kids. Accordingly, from an evolutionary perspective, here are her parenting tips:
1. prioritize your children-do you play golf on a Saturday or hang with them, do you buy a Lexus or save for thier college. There is no right answer, just indicators to your priorities
2. provide a safe and secure environment for them (considering the amount of home accidents, kids whose medical needs are ignored, and the amount of child abuse, providing a safe and secure enviornment is not as common as we think)
3. do interactive activities (early ancestors who did this increased family bonds and learning of values)
4. educate your children (formal or informal, education allows your children to be mobile).

If you follow these applications of your hardwiring "care-giving" instinct, you will practice positive prenting. For more on enhancing your parenting effectiveness, read the new book, The Genius of Instinct: Reclaim Mother Nature's Tools For Enhancing Your Health, Happiness, Family, and Work(FT, April 2009)

The underlying model developed by our team of psychologists reveals an underlying complexity far richer than just 'strict' or 'relaxed' classifications.

And what's particularly interesting is that you can take the test for a spouse and see where potential conflicts might lie and get advice on how to deal w/them. You can also compare results to your friends'.
