I entirely agree! With growing awareness comes the knowledge and the facts. Some people would label certain behaviors. However the bar must be raised all the time: parents/teachers cannot settle with a certain diagnosis. They must work on improving those qualities plus more! The attention must be paid to the skills not to the areas where a person on the spectrum has the most problems with.
You are right, Temple Grandin is an amazing woman! I'm sure if her mother settled for less, Grandin would never be able to accomplish what she had.Being an "Anthropologist on Mars"is better than being an alien on Earth!
