Sarah Allen Benton, LMHC, LPC, LCPC AADC, is co-owner of Benton Behavioral Health Consulting, which provides clinical and business support services. She is the Clinical Strategy Advisor and former Director of Clinical Services at Aware Recovery Care. Sarah is the author of the book Understanding the High-functioning Alcoholic. Her second book, Parents in Recovery: Navigating a Sober Family Lifestyle will be released in Fall 2024. She speaks publicly and trains mental health and healthcare professionals internationally through PESI, Trusted Provider Network (TPN), Harvard Medical School, Executive Links in Canada and more.

Sarah was formerly a therapist at Insight Counseling in Ridgefield, CT, specializing in outpatient addiction therapy, and a primary therapist at Turnbridge addiction treatment program in New Haven, CT. Previously, she worked at McLean Hospital (affiliated with Harvard Medical School) at McLean Brook transitional living program for dual diagnosis treatment in Waltham, Massachusetts. She has also worked as a therapist and consultant for Lynch Wellness Professional Group in Norwell, MA, and as a therapist at the Emmanuel College Counseling Center in Boston, MA.

She earned a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology degree from Northeastern University and has been involved in psychology research studies through McLean Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Northeastern University, and the Boston University Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders. She was formerly the Vice-President of the Obsessive-Compulsive Foundation of Greater Boston. She has been featured in a New York Times article by Jane Brody, has appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show, the Today Show, the CBS Early Show, NPR, SiriusXM, and more. She has been in recovery from alcoholism since February 2004.
