Susan F. Tapert, Ph.D.
Susan Tapert, Ph.D. is a Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of California San Diego, and Associate Chief of Psychology and Director of Substance Abuse Mental Illness at the VA San Diego Healthcare System. Her research focuses on how heavy use of alcohol or marijuana during adolescence may influence brain functioning, development, cognition, and mood. In addition, she is using neuroscience tools to investigate how executive functioning abnormalities may influence the emergence of problem substance use.
