Sari Cooper, L.C.S.W.

Sari Cooper, L.C.S.W., is a licensed individual and couples therapist, a Certified Sex Therapist, speaker and writer in New York City. She has presented at many professional conferences on subjects ranging from Sexual Avoidance, Sexual Addiction, and Out of the Box Methods to Re-ignite Passion. She is an active member of the Society for Sex Therapy and Research, Association for Sex Educators, Counselors and Therapists and the New York State Society for Clinical Social Work.

Sari has uniquely incorporated her training as a professional dancer into her sexuality practice, offering her clients a way to use movement and improvisation to enhance their sexual relationships.  Discovering dancing at five years old, Sari won awards as a teenager and went on to receive her Bachelors in Fine Arts from The Juilliard School where she majored in Dance.  She found success as a dancer with Lucinda Childs, David Gordon, Kenneth Rinker, Nina Wiener performing at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, the Joyce theater, and touring domestically and abroad.  As a Choreographer, she had her work produced in both New York and Canada.  Following her dance career, she returned to school for her Masters in Social Work from Hunter College. she graduated from teh Post-Graduate Externship Progrm in Family and Couples Therapy at The Ackerman Center for the Family where she studied Family Systems Therapy.  She completed her sex therapy training with Dr. Sandra Leiblum at The Human Sexuality Program/UMDNJ Rober Wood Johnson Medical School.

With her many years of experience as both a choreographer and psychoterapist, Sari combines her intuitive and intellectual perceptions when untangling the emotional, psychological, spiritual and sexual choreography that causes individuals and couples to get stuck in repetitive, painful sequences within their relationship.  Her understanding of the mind/body connection profoundly informs her practice as does her ability to refer clients to physicians or physical therapists when the situation warrants it.
