Marianne LaFrance

Marianne LaFrance, Ph.D., is social psychologist and professor of psychology at Yale University. She is an expert in nonverbal communication and is especially interested in investigating how nonverbal behaviors reflect and affect gender and power dynamics. Her most recent book is Lip Service: Smiles in Life, Death, Trust, Lies, Work, Memory, Sex and Politics. The paperback edition, Why Smile: The Science Behind Facial Expressions was published in early 2013.
