Kathryn Stamoulis, Ph.D.

Dr. Kathryn Stamoulis is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Educational Psychologist, living in New York City. Her work, which covers topics related to adolescents and young adults, has appeared in numerous academic journals and media outlets. Kathryn has lectured widely and is especially passionate about promoting an honest and positive approach to sexual education and development.

She is an adjunct assistant professor of psychology at Hunter College and maintains a private therapy practice in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan. In addition to teaching courses on The Psychology of Women and Abnormal Psychology, she lectures, researches and writes on issues such as slut-bashing, sexual communication and the pervasive problem of the sexualization of girls.

Kathryn received her bachelor's degree from the University of Tampa and holds an M.Ed. in Counseling Psychology and a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Temple University.

Active in the American Psychological Association, Kathryn has served on the Board of Directors for the Division of Media Psychology and she is an associate editor of their publication, The Amplifier. The mission of The Division of Media Psychology is to "give psychology away" by being a source of information in the media, a philosophy that guides Kathryn. She is a SheSource expert and an alumna of the prestigious Progressive Women's Voice's program.
