Howard C. Nusbaum, Ph.D.
Howard Nusbaum was trained as a cognitive psychologist in the area of speech research. His recent research has examined the role of sleep in consolidating learning of first-person shooter video games and speech perception, how humans and birds learn complex syntactic structures, and how we gesture with our speech. His most recent work has begun to consider how to study wisdom. He uses behavioral research methods and neuroimaging to study the cognitive and affective mechanisms that operate in social interactions.
Nusbaum is Chair of the Department of Psychology at The University of Chicago.
