Greg Dillon, M.D., is a Founder and President of Lower Fifth Psychiatric in New York City and an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Public Health at the Weill Cornell Medical College and New York Presbyterian Hospital Cornell. He focuses on anxiety, depression, and addiction, and has a special interest in the models and effects of physical experience on psychological perspective. For years, he has incorporated experiences and paradigms from surfing to better understand himself and his patients. He sees this as a pragmatic and tangible bridge between western psych and eastern philosophies.
Surfing is about negotiating conflicts and making choices on the fly, towards an efficeint and joyful ride. Surf-Head is a surfer/psychiatrist's anecdotal guide to translating those surf skills into intra-psychic and life coping skills, in vivo, off the couch.
