Dr. Karen R. Sosnoski, Ph.D.
Karen Sosnoski holds a Ph.D. in English literature from Brandeis University. She is a mother, writer, and documentary filmmaker living in Arlington, VA. Her work has appeared or is forthcoming in BoundOff, Radioactivr Moat, Identity Theory, decomp magazine, The Chaffey Review, Camroc Press Review, Yellow Mama, The LA Times, Poets and Writers, The Washington City Paper, and Bitch, among others. She has blogged for skirt.com and written radio stories for This American Life and Studio 360. Her award-winning film Wedding Advice: Speak Now or Forever Hold Your Peace is distributed by Berkeley Media. When her son was born and diagnosed with mosaic Down syndrome in 2005, she became interested in disabilities--including those due to aging, accident and disease. Currently, she is writing a book of novel. Rosemary's Models inspired by the artwork of artist/wood engraver Rosemary Feit Covey. Exploring the imagined motivations of the people who open their lives and bodies to the artist's scrutiny, knowing she is likely to expose their physical, spiritual, and psychological flaws, this novel considers the pleasures and dangers of living, working, and dying together rather than alone.

Imperfect Offerings explores the courage and insight that comes with facing human limitations, including those caused by disability, illness, and aging or those confronted through extreme sports and circumstances. In 2011, "Imperfect Offerings" will focus on facing limitations through athletic competitions--either as a weekend warrior or dedicated competitor.
