David Biro M.D., Ph.D.

About

David Biro, M.D., Ph.D., practices in New York and teaches at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. His book, Listening to Pain: Finding Words, Compassion, and Relief, draws upon his background in the humanities and medicine. When Dr. Biro was diagnosed at the age of thirty with a rare, life-threatening blood disease, he had to undergo a bone marrow transplant. Armed with a doctorate in English Literature, he was determined to share his experience with others. Since then he has been working to find ways we can better communicate, understand, and find meaning in illness and pain.
