Carla Cantor is a writer and editor who specializes in psychology and medicine. She is the author of Phantom Illness: Recognizing, Understanding, and Overcoming Hypochondria (Houghton Mifflin) as well as assistant director of editorial services at Rutgers University. She has two grown children with her journalist-husband, David Schwab.
