Andrew Bernstein
Andrew Bernstein is the founder of ActivInsight, a 7-step process that radically changes how people understand stress and resilience, and how they handle conflict and challenges as a result.
Andrew graduated from Johns Hopkins University intending to focus on literary criticism, but became more interested in applying his critical thinking skills to the subject of personal and organizational change. He spent much of the next two decades studying a wide range of transformational processes, including cognitive therapy, logic, The Work of Byron Katie, and Stoicism. Andrew recognized that the common denominator for all real change is insight, but that in most cases this insight takes place passively. He then created a new process to make insight happen actively, on demand, and began sharing this in 2004.
Word spread quickly, leading to a feature in the May 2005 issue of Oprah's O Magazine. Companies began asking if Andrew could teach ActivInsight to their leaders to help them become more resilient, and to help teams function more effectively. His clients now include most of the world's best companies, including GE, Johnson & Johnson, Google, Merrill Lynch, and Coca-Cola, among others. Andrew regularly serves as faculty at the Wharton School in the Executive Education division and also teaches pro bono at not-for-profits like Phoenix House and City Year.
His book, The Myth of Stress: Where Stress Really Comes From and How to Live a Happier and Healthier Life, was published by Free Press in 2010. Andrew is currently at work on a book on leadership, and is building an online platform where anyone around the world can learn to generate real insights into their challenges. He maintains a busy schedule of keynotes, training workshops, and online seminars for people interested in thinking differently about how to solve common problems. His website is www.activinsight.com.
