Alexandra Horowitz, Ph.D.
Alexandra Horowitz is a Term Assistant Professor of Psychology at Barnard College in New York. She studied Philosophy as an undergraduate at the University of Pennsylvania, and earned her doctorate in Cognitive Science at the University of California, San Diego. Her research area is cognition and meta-cognition in human and non-human animals. Her dog cognition lab studies the behavior of the domestic dog, from their vocalizations to their responsiveness to human behavior. Her recent book, Inside of a Dog: What Dogs See, Smell, and Know (Scribner), describes the latest discoveries of the fields of dog cognition, behavior, and biology in order to better imagine what it is like to be a dog.
