Delirium
Delirium is a condition of severe confusion and rapid changes in brain function. Shorter in duration than dementia, it is often the result of treatable physical or mental illness. Underlying causes should be investigated. Delirium can be a side effect of some medications. Also known as "acute confusional state" or "acute brain syndrome."
