With the caveat (#2) that there are boundaries that we all have, within those limits acceptance and tolerance are hugely important.

The most suitable relationships still require deep reservoirs of good will, because even our favorite people are just plain annoying much of the time. Those reservoirs drain easily but fill back up very slowly. When one is empty it too late. I’m no doubt overworking the hydraulic metaphor, but with intolerance we open the tap on out partner’s reservoir and with tolerance we stop the leak.
