The new book, The Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother, which attributes the academic success of Asian-American students to an authoritarian style of parenting, has been discussed nonstop since the author published an excerpt in The Wall Street Journal. But is her viewpoint consistent with scientific studies of parenting? Not really.
