Solving the mystery of lyme and chronic disease

Are Your Fibromyalgia Symptoms Due to Lyme Disease?

Lyme disease is the number one vector borne spreading epidemic worldwide, and mimics common diseases such as Fibromyalgia (FM), Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (myalgic encephalomyelitis), autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis and MS, as well as psychiatric conditions such as depression and anxiety. Fibro is symptom not a disease

I keep telling people fibromyalgia is not a disease, it's a symptom of a disease. I was treated for Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and my fibromyalgia went away. My asthma problems also lessened too. But when I try to advise patients or other doctors this all I get is eye rolls. So I don't even bother trying to help people anymore who complain about fibro; it seems like many of them get mad if you even suggest there is a way to make their pain go away and that is to be tested and treated for Lyme. They think you don't understand, but no I do understand because I used to have the same problem and I got over it. I've tried talking to leaders of fibromyalgia support groups, but it's like they really don't want a solution. Hence I no longer befriend anyone with fibro after the way I have been treated because I found a solution.

I am very thankful for my Lyme doctor who changed my life around. I am 6 years post Lyme treatment and feeling like a different person and enjoying having my life back. I think my doctor got so fed up with treating Lyme patients that he retired early last I heard.

Fibro caused by Lyme

In October 2012 when I was newly sick I went and saw a Rheumatologist where I had several positive tests for Lyme. In the process they tried to tell me that the were false positives and I did not have Lyme. I was diagnosed of course with Fibromyalgia due to the tender point test. All my tender points were tender. After being diagnosed by someone else and treated for Lyme Disease, I decided to go back to this Doctor to try to educate him on Lyme and its misdiagnosis. I had been in treatment for 8 months at this point. He decided to do his Fibromyalgia tender point test on me again and he was baffled to see that all the tender points had resolved. He didn't know what to think. All he could say was this is fascinating and he asks me if I could come back at the end of my treatment. I am still currently in treatment but I CAN say that all my supposed Fibro symptoms I had are now gone!
