Culture of Fear

Great article. I think it all comes down to our culture of fear. Parents no longer feel comfortable letting thier kids go over to the neighbors yard and play all day. It is much easier to know that a child is safe at a supervised sport. Sadly, as this article pointed out, kids are being robbed of the opportunity to learn boundaries on thier own or to become creative in the way games are played. Kids used to manage thier team mates, set thier own rules for play, and negotiate conflict, all without parental input. It's time to bring back open recess!
