The surprising forces behind what we buy.

Do Stars Matter?

Do Stars Matter?

Every culture has stars, which suggests that every culture needs them.

We do.

At their best, stars, by displaying excellence, inspire us.

And at their very best, stars leave us with feelings of awe--one of life's peak experiences.

Stars fail, too.  When the star receiver drops the football and the star singer fumbles the National Anthem, they asssure us of something we need to know:  To fail is human.

Our fallen stars--of which we seem to have many--show us that to achieve respect, talent matters little, and character counts for almost everything.

Hundreds of celebrities show us how easy it is to attract attention.  But to excel takes far more, and our handful of stars show us the only way to do it:  Put our hearts and souls into it.
