Drunk and Drifting: How Alcohol Affects Mind Wandering

Why do people drive drunk? People know that drunk driving is dangerous. We educate people in school and through public service announcements. Most sober people will tell you that they would not put themselves behind the wheel of a car when impaired. Yet the newspapers report deaths from alcohol-related accidents. It is hard to go a week without reading about a high-profile athlete or politician who has been arrested for drunk driving.
