A dieter emailed me about difficulties she had "arranging her environment," to keep tempting foods out of sight, out of mind, at home and in the workplace. She's a waitress and wanted to know if I had any extra advice for someone who can't help but be bombarded by the sight of delicious, fattening foods for several hours a day. Read More

2 cents
Dear dieter, here is my two cents worth...
Home:
- Don't keep junk food in the home
(i.e. don't grocery shop when hungry)
- don't watch TV commercials. Use Tivo, or
only watch HBO, or only rent TV shows
or movies, or even more radically just
don't watch or watch very little TV.

Work: (the waitress job is an extra challenge)
- get a job as a waitress at a very health conscious
restaurant, so that you will at least be tempted
by healthy food. Or get a job working in a restaurant
where the food is so unappetizing that you
aren't temped at all.
- sneeze on the food so that it doesn't temp you
(ha, just kidding, probably a very bad idea).
Or visualize a co-working sneezing on the food
so that it is a lot less appealing
- one good thing about waitressing is all the
walking. walking is very important for good health.
Good Luck, and hope this gives you some ideas!
