Stress is primarily caused by external triggers and how we deal and process it depends upon our constitution and temperament. These are incredibly useful suggestions. We have also found that relaxation and guided imagery is a simple, non-secular practice that is very accessible to westerners and very effective in accomplishing many of the goals that Dr. Alexander has identified. Imagery can help people quickly relax, disidentify, and connect to deeper levels of wisdom and perspective without demanding a great deal of practice. It can be a "gateway meditation"for those not familiar with or even resistant to meditation.
