Now, just days after the most massive public celebration seen in Chicago's Grant Park in decades, I notice that I have an unexpected, unexplainable, and likely unwarranted uneasiness - with a sudden, strange twinge of jealousy toward the object of its worship - President-elect, Barack Obama.
Yet, could there be more than just "charisma" to Obama's rise to power?
Something about the Obama Phenomenon that is actually based on science?
What if the workings of personality temperament, character maturity, and gender instinct - masculinity in his case - could be teased apart, codified, and even taught about and learned?

Interesting...
I knew there was a reason I voted for McCain... JK!
Very interesting about how you expect to predict his actions in presidency by using his temperament and masculinity. I wonder if it's self-control that might play a bigger role, or is that related Dr Paul?
The Obama Temperament
Temperaments
I wasn't entirely sure about Bush, but I'm going to spark a friendly debate by saying that I think Obama is clearly a magician, Biden is a warrior, and Dick Cheney is a lover. Each of those individuals have similar temperaments to other people I know well, so I'm relying on my experience here. Obama is a mature magician, so he has well developed King personality attributes, but in my opinion his underlying temperament is action oriented and right-brained.
Obama is the Poster child
Obama is the Poster child for your work.
Insightful
I was at grant park when he gave his speech. I stood with people of all races, ages and dcemographics - everyone was united and celebrated his victory together.
Aside from his policies, as a man and leader, Obama really resonates with the majority of the population. People trust him and he gives ua a sense of hope and optimism that has been absent in our government for a long time.
It looks like you nailed the reason Mr. Dobransky. Very insightful article. I dont know if I agree that Bush is of the "lover" temperment, but maybe this will make more sense in your next post.
Obama's campaign
You can see Obama's temperament in the way he ran his campaign. He is able to think through issues and make decisions based on more than immediate needs or gratification. He is extraordinarily disciplined. He and his advisors thought through their core message and stuck to it, but they also showed some flexibility in how they executed their plans. They did not try to grab the spotlight in every news cycle with "zingers" and brand new policy positions and stunts as both Hillary Clinton and John McCain seemed to do with regularity. Obama's strategy flowed directly from who is as a man and his core values. He happened to win the election. If he had lost, then we would all be talking about how stupid he was. So of course he looks brilliant now. But had he lost, he would still be able to say that he ran a solid campaign based on who he really is. Whereas, McCain and Hillary Clinton were far more "shifty". For instance, McCain was a totally different person in his concession speech. (I guess that was the "real" McCain? Who knows!!??)If Obama had lost, he would still have a strong sense of who he is, without having lost his core values. And he would still have been a viable candidate for 2012. However, we are lucky to have him as president at this moment, in 2008!!
Admit it Tony, you want
Admit it Tony, you want Palin's hotness in office.
Obama's Campaign
The first word that comes to mind is SHREWD. My biggest complaint with Liberals (Democrats)is that they often seem to be high on conscience ("equality and freedom for everybody"), but lower on that shrewdness, which is necessary to really get results. I was really impressed by how Obama was thoughtful in his positions, and that's one of the most important things we need in a leader. Also, Mccain ran a "desperate" campaign, and I was very much disappointed in the personal attacks and distortions of Obama's positions. That, to me, showed a lack of maturity on his part. Meanwhile, Obama ran a steady campaign, and was consistent even in the face of criticism. That's really why he got my vote.
It seems like a lot of you
It seems like a lot of you are having difficulty pinning the temperament. There is a reason for that...when someone is as mature as a candidate like Obama, they are extremely well integrated in all temperaments....making it difficult to pin him in one.
I wanted to say something about the kind of jealousy that men would have to Obama. I think jealousy over somebody like Obama is just really just somebody saying to themselves they have to prove themselves or to be somebody. Well, I'm guilty of it too :), nobody is perfect :). But I think people should understand that certain situations made him the best at what he is and perhaps a lot of luck involved along with talent. There are many mature intelligent people out there, but sometimes key things happens at certain moments of your life that lead you to one area of expertise. Obama being a black male being raised by white grandparents at the time when Blacks received less civil rights...was inherently luck. The rest was talent! The time was perfect.
I look forward to the next article.
And I repeal my arguments
And I repeal my arguments that McCain was better :P
Partial Birth Abortion
If only partially aborted 9 month old/fetus human babies had the right to vote for mature masculinity...
Now the real test...
Obama won the election because of his masculinity, and his genuine charisma; a product of his commitment to the mission he has to offer.
The question is now, Did Obama win because the public was attracted to someone with passion and charisma, or because of the actual mission that he is so passionate about?
Change and unity are ethically neutral concepts in themselves.
Obama's real test will be when he begins seeking unity for the changes that he seeks to fulfill his mission.
agreed
What are Obama's ethics? Count me in as someone who would like to know....
Jealousy vs. Inspiration
I think the "good" kind of jealousy is the kind that we might call inspiration. We see guys all around us (and in the news) that are living this great life, and it naturally causes us to look inward. But instead of wanting what they have, we remind ourselves to make sure we're going after what we want. So, then we're inspired (in a competitive sort of way) to go harder for our dreams, but not to beat anyone else. The battle involves our "Best Self" vs. our "Worst Self".
Bush a Lover
I always knew Bush was a lover temperament. The way he talked, his mannerisms,... It was never so obvious as when he gave his congratulations to Obama on the victory. Talking about how he couldn't wait to see the Obama children coming through the White House doors. I kind of felt like he was relieved to be done with his 8 years and able to be himself. I don't even know how to put it into words, it's just genuine lover type emotional energy was coming from him.
Obama's the king
i may not be an expert in reading this temperament thing, but i remember when Obama was asked what kind of music he listens too and who are his favorite and he mentioned Jay-Z,and he said that he liked how the guy thinks! and i think Jay-z is a king too, at the height of his career (great minds think alike?!!!) Dr what do you think?
:o
I would say Jay-Z is a magician. He's been with beyonce forever, and she's definitely a queen.
