Advice for Public Speakers: "Just Do It!"

Imagine starting a term paper with the following statements:

"Before I begin, I just want to point out that I've had a cold for the past few days so my head's a little cloudy. Also, I didn't get much sleep the last few nights, so I'm really tired. Oh, and I had to kind of write this paper in a hurry. So if it's not the best thing in the world, please bear with me."

Good advice. I've both experienced and heard from others that there's nothing like just doing it for one's comfort level to increase.

yes i think our mistakes rarely get noticed until we draw the attention to them, either by knee jerk response or by self handicapping statements such as these.

Some say that speaking in front of a crowd is one of the people's worst fears. Even the best motivational speakers were probably nervous the first times they had a speech. Honestly speaking I don't think everyone can do this job.
