Interesting article, thank you for posting this for all of us to share in.

There is actually a mature and specific practice for cultivating a healthy loving-kindness within Buddhism. Might I suggest the book "Loving-Kindness" by Sharon Salzberg? It describes this, and other related (and supportive) practices, in great detail.

The practice is called Metta-Bhavana (which means 'loving kindness') and you can learn a lot about it for free simply by googling the term.
