Asexuality is Not a Diagnosis

Sometimes people who disbelieve in asexuality insist that their objections are scientific, but said claims ignore that sexual orientation is not an objectively proven conclusion. It is, by definition, a subjective experience, and it should not be treated like a scientific statement that must be held to rigorous experimental standards.

Asexual people are consistently told that their lack of sexual attraction is pathological. Worse yet, sometimes this message is reiterated by the medical and mental health professionals they trust. Those who hold the reins to define and improve health must become fully educated on asexuality, or their asexual clients may pay the price.
