Let the New Year come in Quietly

I'm an introvert who does like a good party now and then. However, I can't stand New Years Eve parties, they are the most draining of all. Last year, to avoid the thought of being obligated to go to a party and then text/call a million "friends" at midnight, I told them I had plans (I didn't tell them what I was going to do until afterwards). I went to the movie theater for the latest showing of a long movie, alone. It was fantastic. I got to see a great movie and let the new year roll on in, quietly. I plan to do the same this year and see the sequel to the movie I saw last year.

Thank You!

Thanks for sharing these with us, Sophia! Great tips!

take notes

We overdid it during Christmas of 2012 - it's so easy to "just" add one more thing ... and then one more, and one more, each event taking more time and space than you initially thought. So we wrote on a post-it note the four events that were important to us as a family - and stuck it to November of the 2013 calendar. (We have short memories). Sure enough, when November 2013 rolled around, we looked at the note and said to each other, "Really?! Just those four and no more?? Not even ______ ??" But we stuck to it, and had a great holiday season. Relaxing, even. And yes, shopping online was a HUGE energy-saver!!
