The first year in my current office (this is my 7th year), I just assumed we dressed up. I'm sure I asked someone and they said it was fine to dress up and I misinterpreted that to mean that people DO dress up. So I was the only one, possible in the entire workplace, dressed as a very colorful jester. People got a kick out of it, but I didn't make the mistake again.
