How to interrupt the flow of emotions Read More

good read
Anyone who struggles with negative emotions a lot should read this article.
OCD
Frankly, it sounds a lot like my OCD rituals to me. I count, arrange and perform other complex tasks to push intrusive thoughts and feelings out of my head. I've been working for years to try and stop doing that because they interfere with my ability to do other things and to deal with the negative thoughts directly. A distraction isn't a solution, it's just a distraction.
Help For Stutterers
I coached a client with a stuttering problem.I recommended instead of trying to hide his speech problem, he should try to focus his attention on stuttering as much as possible.
Much the same as with emotions, the more he focused on stuttering, the less he was able to stutter.
I never thought of using this same technique for negative emotions, but I will definitely give it a shot with my clients.
Thanks for the article - great info. I am sure will benefit my readers as well.
