All true, but not new.

Some years back, a rabbi named Simcha Weinstein wrote a very funny book called "Up, Up and Oy Vey," which was all about the Jewish roots of superhero comics.

It didn't end with Siegel and Shuster, either. Jack Kirby and Stan Lee created or co-created Captain America, Spiderman, the Fantastic 4, and a host of other heroes.

Knowing this subtext gives new meaning to the plight of the X-Men (mutants who are hated and persecuted by society at large.... not unlike the Jews of Germany).

Indeed. Mr. Weinstein (and his book) was the center interview in "America's Prophet" around which Bruce wrote this piece. "Oy Vey" is a great book and really pronounces the advent of Marvel Comics. Thanks for the link.
