more about Cinema Therapy

In addition to individuals experiencing movies that have changed their lives (like you discussed in your article), there is actually a formal field of "Cinema Therapy", where therapists guide discussion about a movie which triggers thoughts, memories, dialogue and emotional connections.

There was a book by Solomon published in 1995: "The motion picture prescription: Watch this movie and call me in the morning"

And, Korean Psychologist YoungSeop Sim specializes in cinema therapy(in all her writing and academic teaching, as well as some client work). She also runs the website "Healing Cinema", at www.healingcinema.co.kr/

Lastly, the "American Family Therapy Academy" has long had an "Interest Group" for "movie therapy", which annually discusses movies that members suggest as having made a difference in their work as a clinician (run by a professor from the University of Massachusetts)

Thought these might be of interest!
